My favorite Thai holiday, Loy Krathong, just took place last Thursday. The holiday takes place usually in November on the full moon. The Thais make beautiful floats (krathongs) made out of banana stems and cover the base with banana leaves and flowers. They are floated out into the rivers and lakes after you make a wish for the future.

I love the beauty of this holiday. I love that we are able to take part in one of Thailand's favorite holidays. This is also the same holiday that they send the floating lantern's into the air. My hope is that we get to Chiang Mai to see the lantern festival up there!
The first year we were here, we were able to set off lanterns on the beach, one of my favorite moments here. Last year, we tried making our own krathongs, which was a lot of fun. We collected flowers from the neighborhood and put it all together. They were beautiful.

Krathongs the boys made in 2013
This year, Loy Krathong was early and snuck up on me and we didn't have a chance to make our own krathongs. So, we bought one at the festival. Our neighborhood throws a great celebration with vendors and games. We spent a couple of hours at the festival and had a great time. We made our wish and enjoyed some yummy food. Here are some photos of our time celebrating Loy Krathong.
