100 Days of School

Thursday, February 12, 2015

This past Monday we celebrated our 100th day of school.  We have never celebrated 100 days before and I started getting sentimental and feeling bad that none of my boys had ever had a 100 days of school celebration. So, I threw something together real quick and I am so glad we spent the time talking about our 100 days of school.

Sorry about the photo quality, I was using my phone and they would not sit still!

The boys counted out 100 M&M's and were surprised that it didn't look like very many candies.  We talked about how 100 big things would seem like a lot more than 100 little things.  Then we discussed what items we would like 100 of.  Some of the answers: dollars, video games, phones, and 100 extra minutes in the day.  (I wonder who said that?)  Then we talked about 100 things we would not like: snakes, math papers, mosquito bites!

I gave each of the boys pieces of black paper that looked like the number 100 and told them to make something out of it.  I love what they all came up with.

Lincoln made Jack Jack from the Incredibles.

Greyson made a 100 collage.

Britton made a scuba diver.  No suggestions were given by me at all!

I told the boys we were all going to take a little trip into the future and see what we would look like when we are 100.  I used Aging Booth on my phone and we had lots of laughs looking at ourselves. The boys said I looked the best and I wasn't quite sure how to take that.  I guess I am the closest to looking that way so it wasn't as big of a change.  I am just going to take it as a compliment!

We finished our celebration with a 100 Days of School Lunch.  Carrots and apple rings to look like 100.  Pretzels, cheese puffs and turkey bagel to look like 100 and a special 100 Days cupcake.

We had a great time celebrating our 100th day of school!
