This past week, Britton rowed the book The Little Rabbit by Judy Dunn. This is a cute story about a girl and her pet rabbit. Britton loved this story because he has had the chance to take care of a rabbit for a friend of his.
Colors
Britton looked through the pages and matched his crayons to the colors on each page. This a really bright and colorful book. Then, we read a story about animals that use camouflage. We talked about why animals use camouflage. Then, Britton made a cute camouflage lizard.
Lapbook
Britton worked on his lapbook from Homeschool Creations. He did the tracing page, sounding out the first letter of a word, word trace, days of the week, and rabbit count page. I love Homeschool Creations BFIAR lapbook pages. Perfect for little ones.
Pets
We discussed what you need to take care of a pet. Britton took care of his stuffed rabbit all week. (Of course I didn't get a picture.) He fed him carrots, gave him water out of a bottle, and even made a little home for him. It was really cute. We talked about how if we had a pet fish they would need to be in a container with water. Britton practiced putting all of his "jumpy" goldfish back into the jar with his tweezers. He also counted them. We also read Buster by Denise Fleming. Such a cute story. We also read a story about Rabbits.
The bunny, Nibbles, we got to take care of.
Days of the WeekBritton has been learning the days of the week and this was the perfect story to reinforce that skill. We used Homeschool Creations days of the week rabbit page. He had to work on putting the rabbits in the right order. Then, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I found a print out of the caterpillar and wrote the days of the week on each circle. Britton had to color and put them in order.
Art & Sensory
One of Britton's sensory activities this week was to find the alphabet in the "bunny tails." He liked searching through the cotton balls. We read Have You Seen My Cat? and then Britton made a paper plate cat. He also loved the fluffy bunny craft that we made.
We had a great week learning about rabbits and how we need to be responsible for our pets.
